Alpine Excursions
alpineexcursions.com

This very much depends on what you, the customer wants, from your holiday. Whether you would prefer to ride more on tarmac or more off road. If you prefer to be able to pause and take photographs and do more sightseeing, or perhaps your just here for the riding.  These are the sort of questions we will be asking also at what speed you are comfortable riding at,  and how often you would like to stop.  These excursions are not enduro based they are a leisurely ride by motorcycle for those people who which to sample this largely undiscovered by tourism part of Italy, on two wheels.

We will collect you from the airport and transport you to your accommodation, where you can settle in and enjoy a glass of local wine. Depending on the time of day we will either take you to a restaurant for lunch or provide you with an evening meal, for those on the late flight a supper is provided.

A typical day will involve leaving camp at around 9, 9.30 (after breakfast on the deck) and head out of the back of the village onto a fire track, from there we wind our way through some easy going woodland trails.  We continue over the Serra heading upwards into the forest, the terrain here is generally easy going but can be a bit rocky. If there has been rain we will encounter a few shallow water crossings. In between the forest and woodland we will come across a few kilometres of twisty tarmac with views down across the plateau as far as Turin with a back drop of the Alps. Back on tarmac we drop down into the Aosta valley, with a stunning mountain panorama before climbing back up again to a height of around 1600m.

Here we will stop for lunch in an agroturismo, which is located in the woods, with fantastic views. For good traditional Italian Fayre. When we are ready to hit the road again we will track back down onto a mixture of unsurfaced and tarmac roads heading around the mountain with views across Biella toward Vercelli. We will encounter very little traffic; our destination will be The Sanctuary of Oropa a truly stunning collection of interesting architecture. Located in natural scenery of absolute beauty at an altitude of 1200m, almost perched on the side of the mountain. Here we can take a breather and have a wander around and a coffee. From here we head toward home taking in the culture and local villages, on a selection of terrain.  Before getting back to base we will stop at a bar on our local lake (Viverone) for a cold beer or two. The evening will be spent appreciating the local cuisine made from organic vegetables grown in our own garden and cooked by our resident chef Pino with good local wine.

Will be a similar mix of terrain, heading North up into the Alpine range for some truly stunning scenery.

Day 3/ Day of Departure:

Breakfast will be provided. If your flight is an afternoon you can spend the morning chilling. We will take you to a local agroturismo for lunch and then head off for the airport.
